Samcro Memorials are a marble and granite specialist in the tombstone manufacturing industry. Since opening their doors over 20 years ago, Samcro have offered a professional, compassionate service along with top quality material and machinery to design and manufacture tailor made tombstones.
Raymond Cromje, Director of Samcro Memorials, chooses to only use the best quality material and tooling for each project, as he believes that the purpose of a tombstone is to perpetuate the memory of a loved one. “We have been purchasing our diamond tooling from Diamond Products for the better part of 5 years. We chose to partner with them not only because of their excellent service and quality tools, but also because of their constant research and development into sourcing and manufacturing new tools, trends and technology.” Explains Cromje.
One of the tools that Samcro Memorials are particularly happy with, are the snail lock polishing pads. Snail lock pads are a diamond resin based block that is an alternative to abrasive blocks. There are many benefits to using diamond tools as opposed to abrasive blocks. Where abrasive blocks break down during the polishing process and therefore don’t have a long life span, a diamond resin polishing pad is projected to offering 3 times the life of the conventional abrasives.
Snail lock pads come in a variety of different grits ranging from a 50# to a 3000# and can be used in any concrete and stone applications. They are ideal for monumentals, vanities, countertops and concrete staircases. This is due to the nature of the tool offering a completely flat finish unlike any other polishing methods of its class. They can also be used in either a wet or dry application on a conventional variable speed grinder.
“We have personally experienced the benefits of using the snail lock range. The polishing process using snail lock pads is far less messy than that of abrasive blocks. We find that our operators prefer using them due to the fact that the pads are lighter and easier to use. One of the other benefits are that our machines are lasting longer because there is less strain on the machine during the polishing process. Added to this, the process is faster, offers a better finish and saves us both time and money” concludes Cromje.
