Wet diamond core bits use water for cooling and flushing debris from the bore hole. They last longer and cut faster in reinforced concrete. Dry core bits are used where water isn’t practical, typically on smaller diameter holes in softer materials like brick. We recommend wet core bits for reinforced concrete above 50mm diameter. Under SA OEL regulations, dry core drilling must always be performed with dust extraction connected.
